Create Your Bucharest!
What potentials for development lie within Bucharest, the capital of Romania and one of the largest cities in the European Union? The idea competition Create Your Bucharest seeks to attract social and cultural visions from artists, designers, and architects for the multifaced city of Bucharest, which has been shaped by a varied past, and its widespread cultural community.
Create Your Bucharest is a new initiative by the MAK, sponsored by OMV and OMV Petrom. The idea competition is open to artists, designers, and architects (as well as teams and students in these fields) who are Romanian citizens living and working around the world or international citizens in Romania. The award-winning entries will be presented in the MAK exhibition Mapping Bucharest: Art, Memory, and Revolution 1916–2016.
The aim of the open competition is to find new patterns of social and cultural perception in the Romanian and international communities and to make this potential accessible to the public within the context of Bucharest.
How does the individual communicate and interact with society?
How do societies mediate communities?
Which processes initiate contemporary culture?
Which resources drive resistance to slipping into established modes?
How is the city perceived in relation to historical memory?
What effect does diaspora have?
How is the geopolitical position of Bucharest perceived?
